SIA 2015

Every year at the end of January, a massive migration of the ski industry makes it’s way to Denver for the annual Snow-sports Industry of America trade show, or SIA. With hundreds of exhibits from the top brands in the snow-sports world, SIA is the ideal place for any winter enthusiast.

For retailers it’s a fantastic opportunity to come check out all of next year’s gear, and connect with brands. For athletes, it’s just a great time to socialize with sponsors, network, and just have an all around good time.

Personally, I just enjoy walking around to see what next year’s gear is looking like, along with what other enhancements have been made. Pretty much feel like a kid in a candy store every time I go. Although I’ve been coming to the show for the past three years, this was the first time I had meetings with potential sponsors, along with photos up at a booth.

Last year Freeskier Magazine published their first ever Trend Book, which is made specially for the show, with data collected from a large poll on what ski companies are most liked, along with additional info about brands, and how often people are buying gear.

This year the Freeskier editor Henrik, was awesome enough to mention a photo I took with Lupe Hagerty riding around Keystone, along with mentioning the Sports Creel. Check below to read it.

Once the business day is over, SIA is known for many parties and events taking place over the weekend. This year I got to go to Winter at the Rocks, which is concert that Icelantic Skis puts on at Red Rocks Amphitheatre. Such a sweet venue, and I was hyped to see Damian Marley perform.

Had a great time this year seeing familiar faces, and getting to hang out with my sponsors a bit. Now time for the Mammoth Grand Prix this week!
