Mammoth Grand Prix

After a fun weekend at SIA, it was time to head off to the next contest in Mammoth. We arrived in Mammoth on Sunday right when the Super Bowl started. While the Super Bowl didn’t go as well as I had hoped, I was glad to be in Mammoth and skiing the next day.

This has been a very low snow year for Mammoth, but with what snow they had, they made one fun slope course of three rail features into 2 jumps.

We were able to have two fun days of practice on the course, along with awesome weather.

Following the second day of practice, I made a trip down to Reno for the night to pick up my coach. Had a fun time walking around Reno, along with trying my first ever Aweful-aweful, and walking around the Littlest Big City In The World.

We stayed in Reno for the night, and drove back bright and early while the snowboarders did their slope qualifiers. Unfortunately after this day, bad weather rolled in. For our qualifier day, winds were blowing in every direction, and were very sketchy.

They decided to postpone the contest till Saturday, with hopes of the weather improving. But atlas that was not the case with heavy snowfall and high winds on Saturday, they had to cancel the event.

Bummed we weren’t able to compete, but glad they made the right call for everyone’s safety. Big thanks to the people at Edelweiss Lodge for being very gracious Hosts to me and Robby. Always a fun time hanging out in Mammoth with the buddies. Now back in Colorado for a couple of weeks!
