Day 112 - Deni’s Birthday
Woke up this morning to fresh snow out here. Thankful we got a fresh dusting throughout the night. I really haven’t expected any snow since last year we received nothing. I’m very ok with this and before shredding today, I went out to take a couple of photos. While I usually don’t like bringing out my new lens some days, I have to admit how much more in love I am with the look than my older Sony lens. So crisp & love the depth on it. I can see why so many people love photos from this focal length.
For the first couple of laps, we had a couple of sweet pow turns. I really didn’t expect it to be that good, but so thankful we were able to get some fun slashes in there. For the rest of the morning, we mainly worked on drills before heading to the park. By the time we got to the jumps, we all realized very quickly how cold it was, as the winds picked up and didn’t get softer at all. We were freezing. Originally we were supposed to ski a full day but decided to change to a half-day instead. We weren’t the only ones, with Snowboarding doing the same.
This afternoon, I was able to try a little bit more flash photography although decided to watch more of the Speedlight class instead and learn a bit more of the theory. As I was about to finish a class, Deni came back into the room and said, “It’s my birthday, let’s go have a drink.”. After dinner, we ended up meeting in our room for more birthday celebrations. Fun playing cards, laughing and celebrating with the entire staff.
