Day 99 - Cold Weather Arrival

Last night I went to sleep looking forward to my conversation with Sabine in the morning. Unfortunately for me, I woke up around 3:30 AM & unable to actually go back to sleep. I ended up trying to listen to a new audiobook along with continuing a CreativeLive class before trying to go back to sleep. When that failed, I scrolled through social media before receiving a text from Sabine. I called her shortly after and was able to talk with her till breakfast.

As the morning started, I decided to go back to the bunny slope to work on some technique. Today felt different though as the chill has begun to settle in. Wind whipping throughout the day & causing a major shiver throughout the group as temperatures dropped well below the negatives. While still a productive morning for training, there was a sigh of relief when we were able to go back inside and warm up for lunch.

This afternoon we were off snow & instead had a gym session. Before the session, I decided to take a walk outside to check out the new hip being built. The jumps we hit yesterday are sadly gone already, and the hip should be open in a couple of days from now. As I was making my way up to the hip,  I snapped a couple of photos of some of the snowboard crew as they were hitting the rail features.  Decided to not stay long though as the temperature had only gotten worse since coming in for lunch.

When I got back inside it was time for the gym session to start. Right after beginning we received news that we’ll be heading out sooner than later from here. Since the pipe won’t be ready till January we have no reason to stay and will be heading to a different resort next week. Till then we’ll be getting in as much time on snow and working on a bit more technique before heading out for a pipe to ride.
