Day 55 - Back in Beijing

Landing in Beijing early, and happy about that. Took me a bit longer to get my phone sim figured out & had some problems with calling a Didi(Chinese Uber). Instead I went down to get a taxi with my ski bag and other luggage. The surprised look on the taxi drivers face when I roll up with my ski bag was priceless. Even though I’m not able to speak the language, you can tell exactly what they’re thinking. “What the hell are those things?” & “How is this going to fit in my car?” Not the first time I’ve seen this expression while traveling and certainly won’t be the last. At first he didn’t think there was anyway possible for the skis and my luggage to fit. Surprised him even more when I showed him the front seat trick. He was actually impressed, gave me a thumbs up, and we were on our way. On the way to campus I found out that the schedule was changed and I needed to coach this morning. Traffic took a bit longer than expected, but once we arrived and checked into Beijing Sport University it was straight over to trampoline.

It’s interesting being back on this campus right now. The last time I was on the campus was in April, when I was with the previous team. Before we ended up being here for two weeks before going on a team break. One of the benefits of being on this campus is there’s always something going on. With the first day back and the light looking good, I went to check out some of the campus sports going on. Should be interesting to see what happens in the upcoming weeks.
