Freeskier Park Test

Years ago I remember watching an edit from the Freeskier Magazine Park test, featuring the music of Jurassic 5’s Concrete Streets. Not only was that edit awesome, but that was also the first time I knew I wanted participate in the Freeskier park test.  The last couple of seasons I tried to get into the test, but  wasn't able to. Thankfully this year I was finally able to get a spot for it at Copper Mountain.

Grouped together with some awesome people for a few days in a, “Mondo Condo” on the Copper slopes. Many fun times were had, and I thoroughly enjoyed it all. For the actual skiing part of this festival, I spent 3 days with other testers trying out all of next year’s skis and rating them for the upcoming Buyer’s Guide that is released in the fall. I had been to ski demo’s before, but this was so much more fun. Since every run we took was on a different pair of skis added another aspect you don't expect in your typical ski day. For me, I’ve been skiing the same type of skis for the last few years, so to ski something different made each run more interesting than the last. Some skis I didn’t like, some I absolutely loved. It varied with just how much fun I was having, but every run it was a contest to see if I could have more fun on this new ski then I did on my last run.

When we weren’t on the hill testing we spent a good amount of time hanging out in the condo, and occasionally going over to Woodward to jump on trampolines, or just act silly.  After enjoying jumping over at Woodward or one day a nice time swimming and hanging out in the hot tub, we would always have a massive dinner in the Mondo Condo with the entire crew, and just enjoy each other’s company.

I had so much fun the last few days, and I’m so thankful to the Freeskier crew for letting me join them for this years test. Also a special thanks to Shane Dowaliby for helping me get into and driving me up to the test. Now i'm in Whistler for WSI/AFP World Championships.

Till the next post,
